A pet-friendly homestay near Bhimtal, Uttarakhand

This one’s especially for all the pet parents who do not want to leave their fur babies behind when they go on vacation. Spread over four acres of land about 9km from Bhimtal, this homestay is great for regular parents too!

Apart from the main residential unit, which consists of four ensuite bedrooms, there are one-room cottages spread across an acre offering seclusion for guests and their pets. Each unit has its own garden area ensuring pets can run around freely.

The remaining space is set aside for organic farming, play areas and nature trails.

Indoor board games, outdoor play areas for children, space for badminton and cricket, option to join in farming activities, hiking in the nearby forests or to surrounding villages or just dozing off in the hammock—there is much to choose from. Home cooked meals made with vegetables, fruits and dairy products from the farm are the icing on the cake.

Slow Travel

The residential cottages are made from local stone, which acts as natural insulator, keeping the interior cool during summers and warm during winters. Emerald Trail also encourages the use of local handicrafts—locally made dhurries, mats, bedsheets procured from village artisans and local shops are used in the homestay. A bulk of the space is set aside for growing vegetables and fruits. Solar power is used for hot water, lights and fans and the exteriors (garden lights, street lights).
